Meet Dottie Lynette

Dottie Lynette joined Empower Tennessee as an Independent Living Assistant in May 2024. Prior to accepting this position she served for six years as a volunteer peer mentor and Braille transcriptionist with the organization.

Dottie is a person with lived experience with a disability and is passionate about helping her peers to have better lives. She appreciates the diversity of clients she gets to meet in her role at Empower Tennessee.

She has extensive experience hosting and helping facilitate peer support groups, working at conferences and events as a booth helper and presenter, and preparing accessible materials in print, online, and audio formats. She was integral to the development of the Show Me The Money and Dreambuilding Activity Decks during her time volunteering with TNSTEP.

She previously served on the Brentwood Library Teen Advisory Board Council, the Youth Council at The Oasis Center, and as a Youth Moderator for the Oasis Center’s online peer support group.
