Dan Dumont

Mental Health Consultant and Therapist

Dan Dumont (he/they) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who is a psychotherapist and mental health consultant who joined our team in September 2022. In their role with Empower Tennessee, Dan compiles mental health resources available to adults across the state, connects with other providers with lived experience and/or clinical experience with disability, and develops innovative mental health programs that close gaps in services.

Previously, Dan worked as counselor with the Just Us program at the Oasis Center in Nashville, providing individual, group, and family counseling for LGBT young people and their families. Their other past roles include being a program coordinator at the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s youth mentoring program, and working as a direct support professional for a college student with cerebral palsy.

Dan holds a BA from the University of Southern California, and a MSSW from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. He has delivered presentations on LGBT issues in diverse settings including high school classrooms, required courses for law enforcement, and interdisciplinary clinical staff trainings for behavioral health providers. Dan is a certified instructor in Mental Health First Aid. Their passion for intersectionality comes in part from their own personal experiences living with mental health needs, and interacting with the medical system as a transgender individual. Dan is married and has two children and a cat.
